
Dr. Harvey Armstrong, B.P. & H.E., M.D., F.R.C.P.(C)
Dr. Harvey Armstrong is the Founder and President
of Parents For Youth: Helping & Supporting Parents. Dr. Armstrong
is a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist trained primarily in Toronto.
He received his Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians
and Surgeons in 1973.
Harvey Armstrong has long term interests in difficult
adolescents, parenting, crisis intervention, first nations people,
group therapy, sexual abuse, transcultural psychiatry, community
psychiatry and dissociation.
Harvey Armstrong was the Staff Psychiatrist and
Team Head at the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry Family Court Clinic
for eleven years and consultant to the Training School system for
six years. He became the Directors and Clinical Director of Youthdale
Psychiatric Services which won an American Psychiatric Association
(APA) Gold Achievement Award For Excellence.
Harvey Armstrong is currently on staff at the
Hospital for Sick Children as the Group Therapy Programme Consultant.
He is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of
Toronto and until 1995 was the Director of The University of Toronto,
Sioux Lookout Mental Health Programme which also won an American
Psychiatric Association (APA) Gold Achievement Award For Excellence.
Harvey Armstrong and his colleagues have been
providing parents of difficult youth with group therapy for more
than 20 years.
Harvey Armstrong has been married to Mary K. Armstrong,
a clinical Social Worker for 40 years. They have one grown son who
is a journalist in Kingston, Ontario.
